Winter greetings!
17th June, 2008
Warm winter greetings!
Parent Trust is pleased to be able to publish this first newsletter from our brand new website!
Firstly, thanks must go to NZ Lottery Grants Board for providing the funds to get this website up and running and to Ashley Bryan at Webstarters for guiding us through the process of getting the website to a professional standard and for providing service beyond compare!
We would also like to welcome all those who have subscribed to our newsletter! We hope it proves to be a good way to staying in touch with Parent Trust and our work. We want this newsletter to be enjoyable and informative, so please be in touch with us if you have ideas you would like to read about or stories you would like to share with others.
We were excited to have an article printed in the April/May issue of 'Tots to Teens' magazine about the benefits of attending a parenting course. Hopefully, you were able to see a copy. Here is an extract from the article:
"Parenting programmes that aim to help parents share some of the stresses, anger and frustrations of being a parent can assist not only by taking the heat off a child but by enabling parents to develop skills that are empowering. All caregivers can feel triggered, isolated and out of control in their parenting at times, but parents who learn strategies that provide understanding and insight to manage and transform some of the thoughts, behaviours and feelings that overwhelm them can begin the journey to being the parent they want to be."
If you would like to see more of this article, be in touch with us and we can post a copy of the magazine to you!
At Parent Trust, we offer programmes that explore and address the challenging roles of parenting. This is undoubtedly the most important job in the world. As Dame Anne Salmond has said, "A society that does not care for its children is a society with a deathwish." How true that is!
So far this year, Parent Trust has worked with 169 mums and dads in groups from Whangaparaoa to Papakura, from Henderson to Pakuranga!
Term 3 is fast approaching! If you are interested in signing up for one of our programmes, check out the programmes page of the website. There is a Parent Trust programme near you!
All the best from the team at Parent Trust!
