How do I love thee?
5th September, 2008
....let me count the ways....
One of the most telling comments about the benefits of joining a Parent Trust group comes from a mother who said, "I have always loved my children, but now I have started liking them as well, and I enjoy being with them." Sure, it helps to learn some more 'top tips' on what to do when children are misbehaving, but they are not much good if Mum or Dad is feeling really stressed. Learning to deal with our own stress is often the key to enjoying our children more. We can list a million things about our kids that we love, but how much more satisfying to actually like being with them and rediscover the joys of parenting!.....to rediscover our dream of parenting!
Some Parent Trust statistics
Just having a glance at our latest annual report, we've had a fantastic year:
- 360 parents throughout the Auckland region attending our programmes, an 11% increase on last year and our second highest figure ever!
- 54 groups for Mums and Dads throughout the Auckland region, an increase of 17% on last year!
.....and we thank you for helping to spread the word and let people know about what we do and how we assist parents to be the Mum or Dad they want to be!
New Parent Trust groups
We are pleased to let you know that we now run 'Being the Mother you Want to Be' at the Mangere Community House, Mangere and from term 4, 'Being the Father you Want to Be' in Pakuranga. Check out our programmes page. We are always open to hear from other communities where there is a need or interest in what we offer.
More new services
Thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Social Development, Parent Trust is now able to offer our clients one-to-one counselling. This is for Mums or Dads who are participating in one of our group programmes and who find that there are big issues in their lives which really get in the way of being the parent they want to be.
